There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER... Life will never be the same. #Hessa

Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.

But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless…could this be love?

This is poorly written and romanticizes abusive relationships.

I was not a day one fan of Anna Tod. I didn’t even know who she was until about a week ago. But you have no idea how glad I am now that I know of her. I first found out by watching the “After” trailer on YouTube and I was captivated by it. I couldn’t stop watching the less than 2 minute video that had me completely lost from the world. I relate to these books so much, but not in the ways in which you may think, but I’ll get to that. I have read countless reviews of people taunting and trashing this book because they believe that it promotes domestic abuse and teaching young woman that it is okay to be treated the way that Tessa is being treated by Hardin. But I see quit the opposite and I fell madly in love with these books. The first book I read in less than 24 hours and I then read it again and highlighted because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Yes, I can see where people might think it promotes domestic abuse and I am willing to hear all sides out but first hear mine. I think the book is raw and powerful and real. I don’t think it promotes domestic violence I think it just tells the truth. It tells the story that people are afraid of saying, but everyone is thinking. I believe Tessa is strong and has gone through so much and is in love. Can anybody tell me that they haven’t done crazy things because they were in love? No! Everyone does crazy thing because of love and of passion and the memory of what is good. We accept the love that we think we deserve. Tessa is strong, yes she goes back to Hardin again and again after he does awful things to her. But think about the life Hardin has lived. He had to watch awful things happen to his mother and get tainted by nightmares. He didn’t even know how to love anybody and even thought he says he only loves himself, in his actions he shows that the problem lies in how he really feels about himself and Tessa knows it. They have hard times and they fight but they love each other so deeply that it’s all consuming and makes them do crazy things. But they are changing each other and there is a sort of poetry to it. I like this book so much because it shows that what Tessa and Hardin are really thinking and tell me you haven’t thought what they have thought and fought over miscommunication it happens and this book only makes us aware. And as said in the book, a book should change you and if it doesn’t than it is not a book that you should be reading. This book has changed me because it showed me the rawness of life . I know that may sound stupid but it’s so real and those are words that are needed to be heard. Anna has created a beautiful story, it may be harsh but than again if it wasn’t there would be no story. Anybody can be in this situation and this book can help you know that you deserve better but if you are willing to work it out than it has to be for you and not for the other person. Don’t just categorize her story for the worst, read it , understand it and than make up your mind. But I most definitely think that this book is worth ready. I am on book three and I started this series a week ago.

A lot of comments say that Harry was abusive to Tessa , this how ever is not completely true. It was Tessa’s ultimate decision to go back to Harry every time , ( Tessa changed Harry for the better) Harry never forced anything onto Tessa ever ! Look I know people are really making this book look bad right now but if you read all the books it makes sense why Harry is the way he is! Reading this one local make him seem like a butt hole but that’s just because he had a past and in other books him and Tess work things out the way a healthy relationship should!:)

This was such a good book! I COULD not put it down. I read all 4 books within the span of 3 weeks. This is one of those books that I wish that I could unread, just so I could experience it again for the first time.
